Neo-tailoring: when officewear goes hand-in-hand with urban culture
Match your outfit with your favourite pair of sneakers
Having already made its mark in 2022, the tailoring trend is continuing into 2023!! With boxy cuts and androgynous looks, we dig into the male wardrobe to activate the working girl look: blazers, suit pants, suits, tuxedos... Chic and simple pieces, which need to be adapted to the mantra of the moment: comfort.
In recent years (and especially during the repeated lockdowns), it has not been unusual to see streetwear inspirations among the most fashionable trends. Athflow, effortless, comfy-chic or even cocooning, fashion is all about well-being.
At Vanessa Wu, comfort comes first. So unsurprisingly, choose your XXL blazer, wide suit pants and combine everything with sneakers(also oversized), favouring prints and coloured inserts to bring a touch of character to your outfit. The perfect sporty-chic combination for a day at the office, followed by a drink with the girls.
The pop version tuxedo
Winter is moving away, so it's finally time to bring some pep to our dressing room! So, we dare to wear a colourful and funkier suit than the classic black version. The objective: Walking the streets of Paris at the same pace as Blake Lively in the streets of New York.
To do this, we put on our most brightly coloured suit and accompany it with our favourite sparkling sneakers (we don’t even need to elaborate on them anymore). This time, we leave our heels in the wardrobe. Sorry Blake!
Admittedly, choosing THE colour that suits us is often a real pain. Our advice? Base it on the colour of your hair:
- Women with red hair should opt for cool shades like blue or green
- For brunettes, red and raspberry hues will make your hair stand out the most.
- Finally, for blondes we go for light colours, like pastel blue or green!
And hey presto, an effortless but understated look!
A trend that follows the seasons
We're waiting for the sun to show its face before getting out our legs and wearing the most chic and practical outfit for mid-season: the short suit !
And yes, the short-style suit is just as classy as its long-legged version and has become a must-have item, more particularly because of its practicality. Going from a casual style with sneakers to an evening outfit with heels has never been easier. In terms of materials, we have the choice: tweed, wool, leather, cotton, linen… The list is long.
For the arrival of sunny days, we advise you to opt for a light set in beige linen, and to break its folk side by matching it with a pair of high top sneakers. For a more BCBG look, we think classy with loafers accessorised with socks; believe us, it’s all the rage!
Somewhere between the school girl and officewear trend, the skirt suit is an alternative to shorts and we love the way Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber have adopted it.
Conclusion
With this array of possibilities, you no longer have any excuses not to succumb to the tailoring trend. Contrary to popular belief, a suit is not synonymous with strict, professional meetings and stiletto heels. For us, it's more of a chic version of our Sunday joggers set!
